Carrying forward the long and glorious traditions of great Indian Nobel laureates such as Rabindranath Tagore, C.V. Raman and Amartya Sen, India's children's rights activist Kailash Satyarthi has been awarded Nobel Peace Prize 2014, the highest recognition of his work against child labor.

Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai, who was shot in the head in 2012 for advocating girls' right to education will also be awarded Nobel Peace Prize 2014. Malala Yousafzai was attacked by masked gunmen as a punishment for a blog that she started writing a blog to campaign against efforts to deny women an education.

Satyarthi and Yousafzai were picked for their struggle against the oppression of children and young people, and for the right of girl child to education, the Nobel Committee said. We salute both the noble leaders for their dedication and inspirations for generations.
